The Entry Process

How much does it cost to enter?  « back to top »
The Best of British Industry Awards are a not for profit event.

There is no charge for entering the Best of British Industry Awards and no charge for any publicity afforded to winners in the Sunday Times supplement.

Those organisations short-listed for each award will be offered the chance to attend the Best of British Industry Awards ceremony at the Tate Modern on 8th February 2007. There will be a charge for attending this event.

Not once it is submitted.

How long does it take to complete the entry form?  « back to top »
Depending on whether you have ready access to data about you company's performance, absence levels etc, it should take about 20 minutes.

Why should I enter?  « back to top »
The Best of British Industry Awards are an opportunity for organisations working within and supporting British industry to showcase themselves and be recognised for their work. If your organisation is doing something exceptional and you believe that you would benefit from an opportunity to be recognised as the Best of British Industry, and being promoted through the Sunday Times and other marketing channels, then you should enter.

Yes, you will be asked which categories you wish to be entered for.

Which category should I enter?  « back to top »
You should enter the categories for which you feel your business best meets the criteria and has something outstanding to demonstrate about your performance or contribution.

Who can enter

Can a company with a substantial UK manufacturing presence, but a headquarters located outside the UK enter the awards?  « back to top »
No. The company must be headquartered in the UK.

Is a UK-headquartered company with a foreign-national chief executive eligible to enter the awards?  « back to top »
Yes.

Can a foreign-owned company with a UK headquarters enter the awards?  « back to top »
Yes. As long as a company has its own individual headquarters within the UK it is eligible. The nationality of the legal owners is irrelevant.

Can a supplier whose market is almost entirely in the manufacturing sector enter?  « back to top »
Yes. As long as the company is a specialist supplier to industry (not a general supplier to all types of business) they are eligible to enter the awards.

Should a company enter the awards, or individual awards categories, as a subsidiary company or as a group?  « back to top »
Either. The choice is up to individual entrants.

Can I receive feedback on my entry?  « back to top »
We will give feedback only to those who reach the final short-list in each category. The rules of the awards state that we will not enter into any correspondence about the results and that the judges decision is final.

Winning an award

What will happen if I win?  « back to top »
Short-listed entrants will be notified by The Work Foundation in November 2006 and offered a chance to attend the Best of British Industry Awards ceremony on 8th February 2007 at the Tate Modern in London.

Winners will be celebrated at the awards ceremony and featured in a Sunday Times special supplement the following Sunday.

What if I can't attend the ceremony?  « back to top »
It is a condition of being short-listed that you attend the Best of British Industry Awards ceremony, even if you only send one representative.

Who owns the intellectual property and copyright?  « back to top »
All data generated by the Best of British Industry Awards all become the joint property if the Best of British Industry Committee.

  • The judging will take place in January 2006
  • The winners will be announced at the Best of British Industry Awards ceremony taking place in London on 8 February, hosted by The Sunday Times, AMEC and The Work Foundation.
